Li Sze Chow recognizes Jesus in the darkest hours of despair, loss, and grief. She has found her strength in the Lord in every situation. So don’t be surprised with the painful trials of her suffering in her life. Her faith in the Lord has enabled her to walk through and walk out of the valley of the shadow of death, suffering, and disappointment. As a single mother on her own, her perseverance, determination and commitment in fighting for the life of her children is not only commendable, but will encourage everyone of you that read it.

The life experience shared by Li Sze is really amazing which word is unable to describe how much it has impacted me as a reader. I pray that God will use her abundantly to impact other lives through her life and her love for Jesus Christ. She is one of the chosen people by God for His Kingdom here on earth as it is in Heaven.

In the midst of pain and sorrow, Li Sze clings highly to God. This book serves as a testimony of what God has promised to His people in Isaiah 61:3, "To all who mourn in Israel, He will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of heaviness." God has transformed her ashes into something beautiful, like a piece of raw gold, after the refining process, she glitters with the glory of God.

This is a story from the heart, we see the display of despair and grace, hope and disappointment, but in the end, the Glory of God triumphs as despair and disappointment are replaced by courage and strength. This beautiful story tells us of how our everyday life is woven into the greater story of God. A story like this will grip our hearts, waking us up to the reality of life with an assurance that this must be God working in the life of ordinary people like you and me.

Li Sze reveals her most vulnerable moments; sharing her grief and despair, and also her joy and love. She shared her life, children, families, and friends with us in a most intimate way. I was very moved by reading this book.

Li Sze shares her raw emotions and her vulnerability to glorify God and to help others who are in grief. Truly, it is a remarkable journey of aloneness with many struggles and if God is not for her, her life would have been doomed. As I read this book, I remember Mary Magdalene of the Bible, who loved Jesus very much because she had been forgiven much. She had so much humility because she had been loved much. God’s grace is an unspeakably precious reality in Li Sze that has changed her and inspired her great love for God. It is very glaring to me. Her love for God is astounding. Jesus says that in this world, we will have trials and tribulations but we are to be of good cheer for He has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Some of us at Christ Lutheran Church have walked with Li Sze through the time of her anxiety, which words cannot fully express. I knew that the Lord Himself would guide her through those dark hours of tribulation, restore her dignity and destine her for greatness in His Name. With zeal in prayer and ministry, Li Sze has grown in her spiritual walk. Praise the Lord for the grace of transformation from ash to beauty in her.
