Via Dolorosa

5 October 2023

My whole being was captivated by this song because every lyric and melody flow with the blood of Jesus with His incomprehensible love for us…I couldn’t help myself weeping, knowing deeply in my heart how great is His love to bear this terrible torture and humiliating suffering to save me… …

The title of this song, Via Dolorosa, is named after a street in the Old City of Jerusalem which was the path Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion. On that day, Jesus was forced by the Roman soldiers to walk down Via Dolorosa, about 600 metres, all the way to Calvary. He was bleeding, there were stripes upon His back, and he wore a crown of thorns upon His head. He bore with every step for the atonement of our sins although He was completely innocent.

Nobody can escape from pain or suffering in life. The longer you live, the more you experience and understand “pains”. The worst pain in life is the loss of your loved one. I am so grateful that Jesus opens a Way for us, the Way to the Father. Not only for us but also for our loved ones. Even though my son and my parents have departed from here, I live with hope and anticipation in the promises of Christ.

When Jesus came to the tomb of Lazarus, He said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26) – Yes, absolutely I believe! Do you believe this?

Whatever trouble or pain you are going through now, remember that Jesus has walked down Via Dolorosa to Calvary, to bear all your punishments, pains, struggles, sicknesses,… You are set free while you are still in this world because Jesus said, “…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 11:33)
